Spare and Special Originals

These models are all one offs, either I have ordered them to my description or I have picked them up from Julip as a horse that they have made up to use spare paint and bodies. Recently, Julip have been making many more spare horse. I haven't succumbed to buying them from the website, but at the recent Julip Live Show I picked two lovely ones for my herd. Some are speical orders that have come second hand from other collectors, and some have been slightly customized.

Dancer

As soon as I found out about Special Originals, ordered to your description, Dancer became my dream Julip; a fleabitten grey on the Dressage Horse mould. Luckily, I was able to order one with some vouchers I won in a competition, and I'm so glad I did because she turned out to be such a beautiful mare.

Brightling

Brightling was a spare at the Julip Live. A fleabitten grey on the Child's Jumping Pony mould, he matched Dancer, my Dressage Horse, perfectly. Naturally, I had to get him. I'm so glad I did, as he is a gorgeous model and looks particularly good under saddle.

"Giraffe Pone"

Photobucket

Another spare from the Julip Live 2009, this gorgeous dappley New Forest still does not have a name. She is known as "Giraffe Pone", Annabel's nickname for her, because of the way her large dapples look like a giraffe's colouring. I love this little mould, especially the face and the well-defined withers.

Commotion

Photobucket

Commotion is a "Designer Julip", part of the realism range by Helen Moore. Personally, I don't think he is that realistic, but I love him anyway. He is a loud leopard spot on the A|rab Stallion mould, and so I have his breed as an Araloosa. Unfortunately, he has blue eyes, which besides being very scary and slitty, are glossed over, which makes them hard to repaint in brown. One day I'm sure I will be able to though.

Lilia

Photobucket

Lilia was my Julippy grail, a Fjord on the older chubby Dartmoor mould. When the Dartmoor was recast, it became much finer and I didn't think it suited a Fjord pony nearly so much. This meant that when Laura Bond offered her Fjord up for sale, I snapped her up at once. Although the basic paintwork was done by Julip, Laura rehaired Lilia in the Fjord style, with stripes of black and white down her mane. Lilia has lovely eyes, I think they are the biggest out of any of my Julips.

April Mae

Photobucket

April Mae was a spare at the British Open Showjumping in 2008. She is a lovely bright dun on the American Quarter horse mould and I couldn't resist.

Alfie

Photobucket

When the 80s foal mould was retired earlier this year, I was very disappointed not to have bought one earlier. Luckily, this little chestnut was put up for sale only days later. I snapped him up and he is now a foal for April Mae.

Mack

Photobucket

Mack was a present from my friend Hannah, a little liver chestnut roan foal who is the son of my Welsh Cob, Topsy, who is on the catalogue orginals page. His mother is Hannah's mare Malteser and that is where his unusual colour comes from, it is halfway between both of his parents'!

Nessie

Photobucket

Nessie, whose show name is Breaking Dawn, is the fourth model in my Twilight series, named after the books by Stephanie Meyer. The idea came when I realised I had horses called Twilight and Eclipse, so I named my next black horse New Moon, and of course had to order a Breaking Dawn. Nessie was a birthday present from my friend, Izzi. The colour was a bit of a surprise, but she came out a gorgeous pinky roan, which is very unusual.
